WOODWORKS
This was the first Aspen Log project
that used larger logs. The wine rack made with
Aspen used logs peeled just below
the bark. This table was peeled into the wood more.
This is the full size log bed.
The futon mattress rests on redwood 2 x 4's
that sit in router "pockets" in
the side rails. The side rails tie into the posts with
3" round tenons, that were cut
by hand with a draw knife.
Here is the matching log cornered
Dresser. The drawers are all dovetailed
and have an aromatic cedar bottom.
Drawer detail, face frame top and drawer fronts are redwood.
Here is Tasha's crib, it is also
redwood and aspen. The fold down front
is rigged with a solid brass 48"
piano hinge and brass latches.
When I first saw this slab of Cocobolo
at the Tropical Exotic web site
I just knew I had to get it.
The sapwood of the slab matchs the Aspen log legs.
